- 1/2 lb white cream cheese
- 1 cup shortening (best to use half butter, half Crisco)
- 2 cups sifted flour
- 1 cup 4x sugar (approximately)
- maraschino cherries, pecan halves, dates, etc.
Directions:
- Mix cheese and shortening with fork.Mix in the flour with your hands.Chill several hours.
- Roll out 1/8" thick on cloth-covered board covered with the powdered sugar. The dough will absorb about 1 cup.
- Cut into strips 1/4" wide.Roll up cherries (or pecan halves, etc.) Place folded side down on ungreased cookie sheets.
- Bake at 375° for 15 minutes.
